Stems terete, 1–2 mm. in diameter, whitish to dark green.. Leaves mostly in whorls, rarely spirally arranged or subopposite near base of stem or linear or linear-lanceolate, acute to subobtuse, mid-green to dark green, patent, spreading or somewhat recurved, flaccid, somewhat translucent, 7–32 mm. long, 1.2–1.8(–2.3) mm. wide, with 2 narrow bands of sclerenchyma fibres on either side of midrib and 2–4 bands of submarginal fibres; margins ± hyaline, denticulate, the teeth usually patent, without a distinct basal portion.. Nodal scales triangular-subulate, the margins entire.. Male spathe ovate, 3–4.5 mm. long, 1.5–2.5 mm. wide, pinkish, containing up to 40 flowers.. Male flowers: sepals and petals ovate, 1–1.2 mm. long, ± 0.6 mm. wide, whitish, translucent; stamens ± 1.35 mm. long; anthers ± 0.5 mm. long, purple; filaments ± 1.3 mm. long, colourless..
