Capitula in dense glomerules surrounded by foliose bracts, these glomerules in turn in cymose or racemose inflorescences; phyllaries connate; capitula usually 1-flowered. Flowers bisexual; style branches attenuate, pilose on abaxial side; anther appendages narrowly ovate. Pappus of few scales or bristles.
