Characteristics

Flowers red, purple, violet or navy blue, lower tepals with cream-coloured markings on claws and darker blue or red markings in centre of limbs, unscented; perianth tube 40-50(-55) mm long, cylindric and ± straight; tepals subequal, 10-12 mm long, dorsal held apart from others when fully open. Stamens and style as in subsp. pyramidalis. Capsules oblong-trigonous, locules with prominent ridges, 7-9 mm long. Seeds 1.3-1.4 mm diam.
