Characteristics

Herbs annual or biennial, pilose. Leaves entire. Cymes ebracteate. Calyx 5-parted to base, slightly enlarged. Corolla tubular; tube ca. as long as calyx; throat appendages 5; limb 5-parted; lobes overlapping, orbicular to obovate, apex obtuse. Stamens inserted at middle of corolla, included; anthers ovoid, ± obtuse. Ovary 4-parted. Style included; stigma capitate. Gynobase subulate. Nutlets narrowly ovoid, short hispid, transversely wrinkled strigose, adaxially coherent with gynobase; attachment scar narrow, long, at middle and below adaxially.
