Characteristics

Perennial shrub or dwarf shrub, 0.25-1.35 m high; much branched; branches villous. Leaves alternate, lanceolate, densely appressed-pubescent on both surfaces, somewhat glabrescent. Flowers many, in terminal heads; sessile. Hypanthium: tube densely villous outside, slightly inflated below; sepals oval, obtuse. Petaloid floral scales minute, clavate. Anthers oblong, obtuse. Ovary oblong, compressed, glabrous. Style nearly as long as hypanthium tube. Stigma capitate.
