Characteristics

Perennial shrub or dwarf shrub, 0.01-1.50 m high; branches virgate, simple, slender, terete, pilose. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, uppermost sometimes elliptic, acute or subacute; with many appressed hairs on both surfaces; involucral leaves similar to upper leaves, long silky. Flowers few, in terminal heads; receptacle hemispherical. Hypanthium white, densely villous outside; sepals 5, ovate or oblong. Ovary oblong. Flowering time July-Apr. Fruit an oblong achene.
