Characteristics

Perennial shrub or dwarf shrub, 0.15-0.80 m high; stems many, from woody base, virgate, glabrous. Leaves alternate, subulate-linear, slightly incurved, channelled above, faintly keeled below. Flowers many; yellow; in terminal heads; involucral bracts ovate-lanceolate, glabrous except sometimes on margins. Hypanthium: tube with basal glabrous swelling, deciduous part hairy outside; sepals oblong, hairy outside, obtuse. Petaloid floral scales 4, clavate. Ovary ovoid, glabrous except for tuft of long silky hairs from base. Style short. Stigma capitate. Flowering time Jan.?.
