An undershrub, more or less branched from the base; branches rather stout, pilose at first, leaf-scars prominent; leaves alternate, oblong, oval or ovate, acute, 15 lin. long, 5 lin. wide, 5-nerved, densely adpressed-silky on both surfaces; involucral leaves similar to the cauline but more densely silky; heads terminal, sessile, up to 40-flowered; calyx spreading-pilose outside; tube about 1 lin. long, slender, subcylindrical; lobes yellow, oblong-lanceolate, or oblong, 3 lin. long, 1.5 lin. wide; petals minute, oblong, 1/3 lin. long; anthers oblong, twice as long as the petals; ovary oblong; style slightly shorter than the calyx-tube; stigma capitate.
