Stilted or tufted herb to 30 cm. Leaves straight or decurved, terete, acute to pungent, 4-19 mm long; sheath translucent, 3-10 mm long including apical fimbriae. Inflorescences pedunculate or sessile, with 3-17 flowers; outer bracts 4-6, entire, white or reddish brown, ±2 mm long. Flowers white, the sepals sometimes red-lined. Sepals 2.5-5 mm long. Petals 3-5 mm long, spreading. Stamens shorter than petals. Ovules 3-6.
