Characteristics

Stems numerous, erect and spreading from a branched perennial rootstock, 10-30 cm tall, slender, pubescent to pilose on younger parts. Leaves 3-foliolate, shortly petiolate; leaflets 8-15 x 2-5 mm, linear-elliptic to oblanceolate, pointed, mucronate, appressed pubescent on both surfaces; stipules paired at the nodes, 3-8 mm long, linear-elliptic. Flowers single or in clusters of up to 7, leaf-opposed; bracts 1-2 mm long, nearly as long as the pedicel, filiform or subulate; bracteoles lacking. Calyx 6-7 mm long, pubescent; upper and lateral lobes joined higher, 3-4 mm long, subulate. Standard yellow longer than the keel, extensively pubescent outside; wings a little shorter than the keel; keel 8-10 mm long, obtuse, extensively pubescent. Pods 8-10 x 3 mm, oblong, glabrous except for a few hairs along the upper suture, c. 10-seeded. Mature seeds not seen.
