Characteristics

Trees. Leaves imparipinnate; leaflets entire, stellate-puberulous. Flowers hermaphrodite, borne in large cymose panicles. Calyx cupuliform, with 5 minute teeth. Petals 5, free, much longer than the calyx in bud, induplicate-valvate. Filaments 10, fused in the lower half to form a staminal tube; anthers inserted between a pair of deltate-acuminate appendages which slightly exceed them in length. Disk absent, but base of staminal tube apparently slightly modified for nectar secretion. Ovary (in Flora area) with 2–4 locules, each locule with 1 ovule; style-head capitate, surmounted by 2–4 erect stigmatic lobes. Fruit a berry.
