Woody climber up to 9 m. or more, or apparently sometimes a much smaller free-standing shrub; slash producing reddish gum-exudate.. Branchlets with a short whitish to brownish pubescence or a dense tomentum, sometimes with longer spreading hairs intermixed, soon glabrescent.. Leaves 15–36 cm. long; stipules lanceolate-acuminate to triangular-ovate, 5–7 mm. long, with the basal part at least rather persistent; rhachis prolonged (0.5–)1–3 cm. beyond the distal pair of leaflets, glabrous or pubescent; stipels 0.5–2.5 mm. long; lateral leaflets in 3–4 pairs, oblanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate to elliptic-oblong, 4.5–12.5 cm. long, 2.8–6.5 cm. wide (lower leaflets the smaller), bluntly pointed, rounded or slightly emarginate and usually shortly acuminate, tapered to the cuneate, rounded or shortly cordate base, membranous or chartaceous, hairy at first but soon glabrescent above (except sometimes along the nerves), pubescent or glabrescent beneath; primary lateral nerves ascending, 6–8 on either side, fine and weakly prominent; venation very fine and only slightly raised.. Panicles terminal, 22–60 cm. long, with ascending primary branches, also unbranched inflorescences in the axils below; fascicles closely arranged, short and densely flowered; axes whitish to dark brownish pubescent or tomentose; bracts subtending fascicles lanceolate to ovate, 1.5–4 mm. long; flower-bracts mostly ovate-lanceolate, ± 2 mm. long, caducous.. Calyx 2–3 mm. long, tomentose with short appressed whitish to purplish-brown hairs.. Corolla white, cream or yellowish, 7–8 mm. long, usually with minute hairs at the petal-tips; wings shorter than keel.. Fruit oblong, with a 3–4 mm. wide wing along the upper edge, acuminate, 8–12 cm. long, 2–3 cm. wide, papery, inconspicuously appressed pubescent, laxly venose, 1–2-seeded.
