Characteristics

Leaves 12–20 cm long; petiole 2.5–7 cm long, rachis 3–12 cm long, fulvous-tomentellous; petiolules 1–3.5 mm long; leaflets 3–4(5) on each side of the rachis, 3.5–10 × 2.5–5 cm, ovate to elliptic or oblong-obovate, broadly obtuse to rounded at the apex and sometimes emarginate, rounded or slightly cordate at the base and occasionally ± asymmetric, dull or light green, glabrescent on upper surface, paler and yellowish subappressed-pilose beneath, lateral nerves in 4–6 pairs, prominent, reticulation conspicuous beneath; stipules c.3 mm long, caducous; stipels small.

Standard 7–9 mm long, oblong-obovate, slightly auriculate, claw c.2 mm long; wings c.6 mm long, shorter than the keel, claw 2 mm long; keel petals c.8 mm long, obovate-hooded, fused from the middle to the apex, claw c.2.5 mm long.
Inflorescence a terminal panicle 20–65 cm long, fulvous-tomentellous; bracts c.2 mm long and bracteoles very small, falling early.
Calyx 2.5–3 mm long, fulvous-pubescent outside, sericeous inside; upper teeth obsolete, the others up to 1.5 mm long, obtuse.
First pair of seedling leaves opposite, later ones alternate, unifoliolate, ovate, apex acute, base cordate to rounded.
Pod 1-seeded, 6–9 × 1.6–2.3 cm, usually somewhat falcate, thinly sericeous; wing 2–3 mm wide.
Flowers 8–9 mm long, fasciculate on nodes along the panicle axes, pedicels 1.5–3 mm long.
Ovary 2-ovulate, pubescent, stipe c.3 mm long; style pilose below, glabrous above.
Branchlets fulvous-tomentellous; bark red-brown with paler lenticels.
Stamens c.8 mm long, the lower 6 mm fused into a sheath.
Young parts densely fulvous-pilose or tomentellous.
