Characteristics

Erect shrub to 1 m, rarely taller, glabrous. Stems rigid, pungent, not or slightly striate, terete to slightly angular; flowering branchlets 0.7-1.5 mm diam. Leaves slightly spreading, subulate, 1.5-2 mm long, caducous. Inflorescence a lateral corymb or short raceme; rachis 1-2 mm long, rarely longer; flowers 3-6, almost sessile; bracts ovate-acuminate, cupped, 0.5-1 mm long. Tepals c. 0.5 mm long, white; apex hooded to uncinate with adaxial thickening. Disc slightly lobed. Drupe globose, 1.5-2 mm long, dry.
