Erect shrub to 2.5 m, glabrous. Stems rigid, pungent, slightly striate, terete; flowering branchlets 1-1.5 mm diam. Leaves slightly spreading, lanceolate, 2-3 mm long, caducous. Inflorescence a lateral raceme; rachis 0.5-1.5 cm long; flowers 10-25, almost sessile; bracts ovate, cupped or lanceolate, incurved, 1-1.5 mm long. Tepals c. 0.75 mm long, white; apex hooded to uncinate with adaxial thickening. Disc lobed. Drupe globose, 2-3 mm long, dry.
