Characteristics

Dioecious, slender, deep green, prostrate, 2 cm long, with few short, erect, obtuse, irregularly branched, densely foliose branches. Stem-leaves crowded, horizontal, imbricated when dry, ovate-cordate base quickly lanceolate, concave, 2-sulcate at the base, and with recurved margin, wide nerve for one-third the length; basal cells rounded-quadrate or shortly transversely rectangular, other cells shortly oval, smooth. Branch leaves rather smaller, with flat margins. Inner per. leaves hyaline, sheathing, subulate, with very weak nerve; seta 8-10 mm long; mature theca not seen, nor gonidia.
