Branchlets numerous, short and slender in the male plant, less so in the female plant, purplish, very short-tomentose. Leaves of male plants up to 3.9 cm long, 3 mm broad, of female plants up to 5.7 cm long, 4 mm broad, in both sexes linear-oblanceolate, obtuse with a blunt grooved recurved callus, narrowing gradually towards the base, coriaceous, twisted, somewhat falcate, glabrous, not concealing the branches. Male inflorescence about 1.5 cm diam., with a peduncle about 7 mm long, globose, solitary, terminal, numerous, giving off a foetid smell. Basal bracts 5 mm long, 2 mm broad, lanceolate, acute, densely white-pubescent, becoming dusky and readily falling off. Floral bracts 2.5 mm long, 1.5 mm broad, lanceolate, pubescent, ciliate. Floral bud 5 mm long, bent, short-pubescent, surrounded at the base by a tuft of long hairs, shining when massed in the head. Perianth tube 2.5 mm long, sparsely pubescent. Claw 2 mm long, pubescent, recurved up to 360°. Limb 1.3 mm long, lanceolate, concave, somewhat hooked, adpressed-pubescent, adaxial limb glabrous. Anthers 0.8 mm long, linear, curled upwards. Pollen triangular in polar view with sides 35 µ long, polar depth 22µ. Stigma abortive, 0.8 mm long, clavate, acting as a pollen presenter. Style 4.2 mm long, narrower above, villous below. Hypogynous scales 2.5 mm long, acicular. Nectar seen at the throat of the perianth tube. Receptacle obovoid, depressed at the apex, attentuated below. Female inflorescence 1.7 cm diam., globose, solitary, terminal, of a shining leaden hue, giving off a foetid smell. Basal bracts varying in shape, about 1.1 cm long, 3.5 mm broad, lanceolate, acute, erect, pale reddish, tomentose, closely imbricating the base of the head, the inner becoming caudate, about 89 cm number. Floral bracts 6 mm long, 1 cm broad, broadly ovate, apex obtuse, tomentose, ciliate. Floral bud 8 mm long, narrowing and silky pubescent towards the apex, glabrous below, surrounded at the base by a tuft of very long hairs. Perianth segments imbricated forming a tube 5 mm long, pubescent above, glabrous and membranous below. Claw 1.5 mm long, recurved 90° and over, pubescent. Limb 1 mm long, hollow, hooked, pubescent. Staminodes 0.5 mm long. Ovary 1 mm long, ovoid, densely clothed in hairs 5 mm long. Style 7 mm long, filiform, glabrous. Stigma 0.5 mm diam., truncate, suboblique, sometimes minutely cleft. Hypogynous scales 2 mm long, acicular, tapering. Nectar seen at the throat of the perianth tube. Mature female head up to 3.2 cm long, 2.2 cm diam., elongated globose, tomentose, with bracts tomentose above and long silky pubescent below, adjacent bracts arranged in 2 spiral rows. Fruit a nut, 5 mm long, 3.7 mm diam., obovoid, apiculate, mottled, villous, with a narrow midrib on the adaxial surface.
