Characteristics

Shrubs about 1 m tall. Branchlets straight, slender, pubescent or glabrous, almost hidden by the closely overlapping leaves, arising in clusters from belo the previous years inflorescence. Leaves 4-9 mm long, ericoid, linear-attenuated, subacute, fairly straight, erect, slightly pubescent and spirally imbricated when young, at length quite glabrous, margins scabrous and somewh pilose. Male inflorescence 6-8 mm long, terminal, ellipsoid. Floral bract obsolete. Perianth tube 0.5 mm long. Claw with limb 2 mm long, posterior an 2 laterals connate, 3-toothed, membranous, glabrous. Anthers 1 mm Ion oblong. Style 1 mm long, filiform. Stigma abortive, 0.5 mm Ion linear. Female inflorescence not seen with flowers. Mature female head about 2 cm diam., oblong-globose, with bracts bilobed, glabrous, connat below at the edges and axils. Fruit 6 mm long, 7 mm broad, very broadl obovate, mucronate, compressed, narrowly winged, mottled, glabrous.
