Pollen triangular in polar view with rounded apices and sides 40 µ long, polar depth 24µ. Stigma abortive, 0.5 mm long, clavate, entire, acting as a pollen presenter. Style 5.5 mm long, erect, filiform, stout and pubescent in the lower third. Hypogynous scales 2 mm long, acicular. Nectar seen at the throat of the perianth tube. Receptacle 5 mm long, 1.2 mm diam., clavate, acute. Female inflorescence 8 mm diam., solitary, terminal, with up to 12 florets towards the apex, giving off a very faint unpleasant smell. Basal bracts 5 mm long, 2 mm broad below, about 25 cm number, caudate, acute, densely pubescent. Floral bract 3 mm long, 4 mm broad, sub-hexagonal, adnate below, densely pubescent, ciliate. Floral bud 6 mm long, transversely compressed, densely pubescent. Perianth tube 3.5 mm long, densely pubescent. Claw 2 mm long, recurved 180°, slender, pubescent. Limb 0.8 mm long, concave, hooked, sparsely tomentose. Staminode 0.3 mm long. Ovary less than 1 mm diam., ovoid, pubescent. Style 5 mm long, glabrous, filiform. Stigma 0.2 mm diam., terminal, bifid. Hypogynous scales 1.5 mm long, acicular. Nectar seen at the throat of the perianth tube. Receptacle 4 mm long, 1 mm diam., irregular. Mature female head dehiscent, 1.4-1.6 cm diam., globose or somewhat vase shaped, with bracts pubescent, obtuse, gaping above. Fruit a nutlet, up to 4.5 mm long, 3 mm broad, cuneiform, narrowed to the base, with a small blunt apex, grey or mottled, lateral edges and adaxial surface somewhat ridged, partly clothed with a short white transversely compressed pubescence.
