Characteristics

Stem erect, 20-40 cm tall, glabrous, with a densely reddish brown lanate circle. Basal leaves petiolate; petiole 7-10 cm, leaf blade broadly ovate or ovate-cordate, 3-4 × 3-6 cm, pinnately veined, base cordate, margin dentate, apex obtuse or rounded. Stem leaves sessile, ovate, base cordate, margin dentate, apex obtuse. Distal stem leaves ovate, lanceolate, or linear. Capitula 1 or 2, nodding. Involucre hemispheric, 1.3-1.5 × 2.4-2.6 cm; phyllaries in 2 rows, oblong-lanceolate to linear, 2-5 mm wide, margin shortly tomentose, apex acuminate. Ray florets numerous, yellow; lamina oblong, 1.5-2 cm × 5-7 mm, throat of tubular corolla glabrous; tube ca. 3 mm. Tubular florets numerous, 8-9 mm, tube 3-3.5 mm. Achenes cylindric, ca. 6 mm. Pappus white, as long as tubular corolla.
