Upright, tufted shrublet, 0.03-0.30 m high. Leaves stem clasping at base, 20-40 mm long, linear or narrowly spathulate, often rotted away (constant submergence). Inflorescence a freely, intricately branched or sparsely branched corymb with few sterile branches, smooth or very lightly scabrid, spikelets 2-or 3-flowered; bracts with membranous margins, enveloping flowers in young stage, obtuse. Calyx 6-7 mm long, sparsely hairy on lower 1/2; limb white, with 5 ovate or lanceolate lobes 1 mm long. Petals 5, longer than calyx, spathulate, 2-lobed at apex. Ovary oblong, 5-angled in upper 1/2; styles 5, filiform; stigmas minute, capitate. Flowering time Oct.-Mar.
Like L. scabrum but leaves linear, 20-35 x 1 mm.
