Characteristics

Plants in mats. Stems prostrate, up to 50 mm long, branches ascending. Leaves imbricate when dry, wide-spreading to squarrose when wet, ovate, acuminate, up to 1 mm long; apex curved; margins entire to crenulate; base cordate; costa strong, extending into acumen. Upper laminal cells oval or rhomboid; basal cell elliptical to transversely quadrate towards margins. Perichaetial leaves clasping, short pointed, denticulate, costa absent. Capsule erect, cylindrical; endostome membrane V2 as high as exostome teeth, without processes or cilia.
