Characteristics

Small epiphytic herb usually found in groups of 3 or 4 plants, with new growths arising from the bases of old pseudobulbs.. Stem slightly swollen at the base, forming a small ovoid fresh-green pseudobulb up to 1.3 cm. high and 0.7 cm. in diameter, with ± 7 distichously arranged leaves arising on it.. Leaves increase in size from small sheaths at the base of the pseudobulb to the largest leaf near the apex; foliage leaves mid-green, thin but not membranous, up to 7.5 (usually ± 5) cm. long, and 1.4 (usually ± 1) cm. wide, oblong-lanceolate with very undulate margins and mid-vein prominently keeled beneath, especially towards the base.. Inflorescence arising from apex of pseudobulb; peduncle terete, 0.75 mm. in diameter, light green, 5–6(–10) cm. long, with sterile bracts at the base similar to those above subtending the flowers, light green, cordate at the base, acuminate, ± 7 mm. long, equalling the pedicel and ovary; rhachis with up to 20 closely spaced flowers (usually less).. Tepals greenish yellow; dorsal sepal 3 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, ovate, acute; lateral sepals 3.5 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide, ovate, rather abruptly narrowed towards the acute apex.. Petals linear, 3 mm. long, 0.5 mm. wide, apex obtuse.. Lip 3-lobed; side lobes triangular, rounded at the base with a bilobed callus sunk between 2 fleshy thickenings, 2 mm. across the base; mid-lobe linear, acuminate, 5 mm. long, 0.75 mm. wide at base, with margins incurving to meet over the midline, sharply reflexed upwards halfway along its length.. Column 1.5 mm. long, 1.25 mm. wide, with 2 rounded wings in the basal half, and 2 forwardly directed rounded wings at the apex.
