Leaves up to 11–30 mm. long, 6–14 mm. wide, elliptic to broadly ovate, gradually narrowing upwards, acute or subacute at the apex, gradually or abruptly narrowing below into a petiole-like base, serrate-dentate, sparsely pubescent on both sides or glabrous at least beneath; venation prominent beneath.. Flowers in lax terminal and axillary leafy racemes; pedicels up to 9–15 mm. long, usually upcurved near the apex in fruit, usually finely papillose; upper bracts linear or lanceolate, equalling or shorter than pedicels; bracteoles 0.3–0.4 mm. long, linear, at or near the base of the pedicel.. Hypanthium obovoid to narrowly obconical, 8–10-nerved, glabrous or occasionally sparsely pubescent.. Calyx-lobes subulate, erect or spreading, 1.6–3.2 mm. long, entire, glabrous.. Corolla 3–4.5 mm. long, blue to pale violet, split to 0.5–0.8 mm. from the base on the back, pubescent with ± retrorse hairs inside on the bottom of the tube..
