Leaves 10–28 x 2–9 mm., crenate to crenate–serrate, the upper narrowly elliptic, the lower narrowly obovate or spathulate, usually ± obtuse at the apex, narrowing below into a petiole–like base, glabrous except for the often ciliate leaf–bases.
Flowers in lax, few–flowered racemes; pedicels 8–15(20) mm. long, glabrous; bracts similar to upper stem leaves, shorter than the pedicels; bracteoles c. 0·2–0·4 mm. long, at the base of the pedicel, occasionally absent.
Corolla 13–15 mm. long, blue, with two bumps in the mouth of the tube, split to 1–1·5 mm. from the base on the back, sparsely papillose on the inside of the tube, glabrous outside.
Annual or short–lived perennial, decumbent to ascending, usually much–branched herb, 8–40 cm. long.
Calyx–lobes narrowly triangular, ± spreading, 2–3·2 mm. long, entire, glabrous or sparsely ciliate.
