Erect shrub or small tree 2.5–4 m high; branches minutely hairy between lateral ridges, rarely hairy throughout. Leaves sessile, often appearing petiolate; lamina narrowly elliptic, (25–) 34–82 (–90) mm long, (3–) 4–12 (–15) mm wide, l:w ratio (4.4–) 8.2–12.5 (–18), attenuate at base and apex, recurved to revolute, densely papillose on lower surface, usually hairy at base of midrib on upper surface. Inflorescence (5–) 32–52-flowered (M) or (6–) 9–12-flowered (F). Calyx 0.5–1 mm long. Corolla 2.5–3.5 mm long (M), 1.5–2.4 mm long (F), c. 2/3-connate, sometimes with a slightly thickened internal rim at mouth; lobes 0.9–1.3 mm long, ±papillose on outer surface, especially distally, with a ring of minute papillae at mouth and/or papillose over most of inner lobe surface.
