Characteristics

Prostrate, spreading to rigid, diffuse subshrub to 0.5 (–1.5) m high; branches sparsely to densely minutely hairy. Leaves with petiole 2–7 mm long; lamina coriaceous, broad to very broad, obovate to ovate or elliptic to circular, 15–35 mm long, 15–26 mm wide, l:w ratio 1–1.4, usually shortly cuneate at base, sometimes almost rounded, slightly thickened on margin, recurved to slightly revolute, obtuse and mucronate, often acutely so; lower surface glabrous or minutely papillose. Inflorescence many-flowered; peduncle greatly reduced, rarely to 30 mm long. Calyx 1.5–2.2 mm long. Corolla 3.5–4 mm long; lobes 1.3–1.5 mm long; inner surface with a band of hairs from c. 1 mm above base of tube or from mouth to half (sometimes three-quarters) way up lobes.
