Erect (often weakly so), multibranched, open shrub (1–) 1.5–2.2 m high; branches glabrous, usually glaucous. Leaves glabrous, usually glaucous; petiole (4–) 6–12 (–15) mm long; lamina subcoriaceous, ovate or elliptic to narrowly ovate or narrowly elliptic, (30–) 45–80 (–97) mm long, (10–) 20–35 (–38) mm wide, l:w ratio 1.4–2.6 (–3.3), cuneate to attenuate, narrowly decurrent into petiole, slightly thickened and less glaucous on margin than on lower surface, ±mucronate to slightly acuminate; lower surface with midrib slightly thickened and raised. Inflorescence many-flowered (typically at least 100 flowers); basal nodes often foliose. Calyx 1.2–1.6 mm long. Corolla 2.9–4 (–5) mm long; lobes 1–1.3 (–2) mm long; inner surface sparsely to moderately hairy from c. halfway up tube to a third (–half)way up lobes.
Locally frequent insteep-sided sandstone gorges in open woodland community dominated by Callitris, Allocasuarina verticillata, Eucalyptusodorata, E. cladocalyx and E. camaldulensis (along watercourses),with Acacia, Dodonaea, Myoporum andherbaceous understorey. Frequently in crevices of rocky outcrops in shallowsandy or clay-rich soils.
