Paroicous or autoicous, green, on soil or bark. Stem up to 10 mm long and 90-140 p diameter, green, cortical cells at about 18 x 30 µ, hexagonal, cuticle smooth. Leaves distant-slightly imbricate, triangular with rounded truncate-slightly emarginate apex, decurrent with in the upper and lower margin, upper margin straight, lower margin somewhat arched. Marginal cells 14-20 µ cells in the centre about 20 x 24 µ, trigones small, walls thin, cuticle smooth. Oil bodies 1-10 per cell, about 6 x 8 µ, composed of rather large drops, colourless. Amphigastria small, 1/2 as broad-as broad as the stem, deeply bilobed with uniseriate ends of the lobes and frequently a small tooth in the lateral margin at the base, sometimes deformed by gemmae. Rhizoids in fascicles from below the insertion of the amphigastria, short, dendrously branched, pale brown-colourless. Female inflorescence terminal on branches, perianth trigonously campanuliform, with margin laciniate, frequently plenty of gemmae, large irregularly dentate wings. Bracts in 3 pairs, triangular-longly ovate, dentate, sometimes entire, saccate at base, marginal cells somewhat larger than in the leaves, 20-22 µ. Bracteoles deeply bilobed, with a tooth on the lateral sides. Androecia sometimes terminal, generally below the female bracts, short, with 3 pairs of bracts, bracts triangular, base saccate, antheridia single, globose, 90 µ in diameter, sheltered by a lobule with two ciliate teeth in the median part of the free margin and surrounded by filiform paraphyses. Pedicle of the antheridia biseriate. Gemmae rounded, about 20 µ in diameter, strongly papillose-generally almost smooth.
