Characteristics

Monoicous, glaucous green, on bark. Stem to 13 mm long, 120-130 µ in diameter, richly branched. Leaves suberect, concave, with front margin reflexed, bilobed to 1/3, lobes triangular, acute, the ventral one usually larger, sinus acute or lunate, usually abundantly spinously setulosc in the margin and over the surfaces, seta 1-3 cells long. Cells of the leaves about 13 µ, longer at the base. Amphigastria small, at the base connate with the upper margin of the next leaf, appressed to the stem, spinously dentate in the margin. Female bracts larger than the leaves, 2-3 lobed. Perianth cylindrical, somewhat inflated. 3-carinate, densely setulose, mouth shortly 3-lobed. Spores 1(-3) celled, 10(-18) µ, brown, smooth, with large chloroplasts. Wall of capsule with semilunar thickenings. Androecia in short separate branches, bracts saccate, apex shortly bilobed, margin of lobule incurved, dentate, antheridia solitary, cells of the stalk uniseriate.
