Leaves 0·5–3 × 0·3–1 cm., narrowly lanceolate to broadly ovate, narrowly cuneate at the base, the apex acute or obtuse; veins obscure; petioles 1–2 mm. long.
Stamens as numerous as the sepals; filaments 0·8–1·5 mm. long; anthers surrounding the stigma and shedding pollen directly on it at anthesis.
Low herb, creeping and rooting at the nodes, the stems mostly 5–35 cm. long, glabrous or minutely puberulent.
Capsule 3·5–9 × 1·3–2 mm., plump, thin-walled, pale brown, readily and irregularly loculicidal, subsessile.
Sepals 3, rarely 4 or even 5, 1–3 mm. long, deltate-acute.
Petals 2–2·5 × 0·5–1·5 mm., linear to obdeltate, acute.
Style c. 2 mm. long; stigma globose, c. 0·8 mm. thick.
Disk conspicuously elevated, glabrous.
Pollen shed in tetrads.
