Characteristics

Plant erect to spreading; branches divaricate. Leaves flat, obovate to broadly spathulate, rounded at apex; lamina 2-4 cm long, 12-22 mm wide, attenuate at base into obscure petiole 2-4 mm long; venation distinct. Inflorescence a pedunculate 2-flowered umbel; peduncle 2-5 mm long; pedicels 4-8 mm long; bracts c. 2 mm long, rounded at apex, concave. Calyx c. 1 mm long, weakly 6-toothed or 6-lobed. Corolla in mature bud 30-45 mm long, red. Anthers not septate. Style articulate 0.5-1 mm above base. Fruit ellipsoidal, 8-10 mm long, more or less translucent.
