Herbs glabrous, annual or biennial, 10--30 cm tall. Stems erect, simple or branched. Basal leaves spatulate to oblanceolate, 2.6--6 X 0.5--2 cm, with winged petioles, usually withered before anthesis. Stem leaves alternate, rarely opposite, sessile or subsessile. Leaf blade obovate to oblanceolate or linear, 10--50 X 2--12 mm, sparsely black or reddish glandular punctate, base attenuate, apex acuminate to obtuse. Racemes terminal, initially coniform due to dense flowers, to 5--10 cm in fruit; bracts linear, 4--6 mm. Pedicel ca. 2 X as long as bracts, lowest pedicels to 1.5 cm. Calyx lobes lanceolate, 3--5 mm, black glandular striate outside, hyaline margined. Corolla white, narrowly campanulate, 6--12 mm, parted to middle; lobes oblong to oblong-obovate, epunctate, apex rounded. Stamens slightly shorter than corolla lobes; filaments ca. 1.5 mm; anthers sublinear, dorsifixed, ca. 1.5 mm. Ovary glabrous; style ca. 5 mm. Capsule subglobose, 2--3 mm in diam. Fl. Mar-Jun.
