Characteristics

Herbs perennial, glabrous, to 80 cm tall, without creeping rhizomes. Stems erect, terete, sparsely brown glandular striate. Leaves alternate; petiole 1.5--2.5 cm, narrowly winged; leaf blade narrowly elliptic, 11--16 X 4--5 cm, membranous when dry, thinly black glandular striate near margin, base cuneate-attenuate, apex acute; veins 9--11 pairs; veinlets inconspicuous. Racemes 30--35 cm; rachis densely minutely brown glandular; bracts subulate, 2--3 mm, black striate. Pedicel to 1 cm. Calyx lobes elliptic, ca. 2 mm, glandular ciliate, abaxially with 2 vertical glandular stripes, margin and apex membranous, apex obtuse. Corolla white; tube ca. 1 mm; lobes elliptic, ca. 3 X 1.6 mm, apex rounded. Stamens included; filaments adnate to base of corolla lobes, free parts ca. 1 mm; anthers dorsifixed. Ovary glabrous; style ca. 1.8 mm. Capsule unknown. Fl. May.
