Characteristics

A tall shrub. It grows 4-10 m high and spreads 2-5 m wide. The crown is spreading. The small branches usually hang down. The leaves are deeply divided into 2 leaflets which are joined at the base. The leaflets are 1.5-3 cm long by 1-2.5 cm wide. They are dull bluish-green. The flower panicles are 15-25 cm long. They are in the axils of the upper leaves. They hang down. The flowers are 3-4.5 cm long and pinkish with red stamens. The fruit are pods are 12-15 cm long by 4-5 cm wide. They are oblong and flattened sideways. They are black. The seeds are 2 cm long. They are rounded and brown.
