Characteristics

Woody herb or subshrub to 50 cm high, minutely scabrous. Stems ribbed. Leaves alternate, sessile, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, 0.5–2.5 cm long, 1–4 mm wide, minutely scabrous, acute, the base attenuate. Flowers 1–5 in axillary cymes or clusters, subsessile to stalked; pedicel to 1.5 mm long. Hypanthium tubular, to 5 mm deep, c. 1–1.5 mm wide; appendages 4–6, narrowly triangular, c. 1 mm long. Sepals 4–6, triangular, caudate, c. ½ length of petals. Petals 4–6, obovate, 1–1.5 mm long, pale purple. Stamens equal to the number of petals, included. Capsule cylindroid, c. 3 mm long, shorter than to c. equal to hypanthium.
