Plants 3--20 cm tall. Rhizome creeping, moniliform, 3--4 cm × 4--8 mm. Stems sometimes 2--4-crowded, purplish, puberulent. Leaves 4--6, subsessile; leaf blade ovate, 2.5--3.6(--6) × 1--2(--3.5) cm, base cordate, apex acute. Inflorescence a raceme, 5--6 cm, 3--15-flowered; rachis pubescent. Flowers solitary; pedicel 2--4 mm, pubescent. Perianth violet; segments scarcely connate at base, outer ones broadly ovate, ca. 3 × 2.5 mm, inner ones oblong, ca. 1 mm wide. Filaments ca. 1 mm; anthers ca. 1 mm. Style very short; stigma 3-lobed. Fl. Jul.
