Characteristics

Prostrate to erect perennial to 30 cm high with a woody base. Branches slender, woolly. Leaves alternate, narrowly oblong to narrrowly obovate, usually 5–10 mm long, silky to almost glabrous. Flowers bisexual, paired, densely woolly. Fruiting perianth cartilaginous to woody, woolly all over; tube convex, 10-ribbed, c. 2 mm diam.; wings 5, horizontal, cartilaginous, broadly oblong, flat, crenulate on margin, 1–2 mm long; upper perianth open in centre, thick and hard, forming a discoid rim.
