Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 10 m high; evergreen. Stems ± flattened towards apices, with sparse yellow to red sessile glands. Leaves opposite, not peltate; lamina elliptic, oblanceolate or obovate, 36–200 mm long, 15–90 mm wide; base cordate to cuneate; margins generally entire, but sometimes weakly sinuate; tip acute, short acuminate or obtuse; venation penniveined, comprising 8–12 lateral veins per side of midrib and reticulate interlateral veins; upper surface with granular inclusions; lower surface pale green, interlateral venation well developed, glabrous and with dense, yellow sessile glands. Stamens 38–70. Fruit depressed-globose, 5–6 mm long, 8–10 mm diam., with sparse, yellow sessile glands, hairs and echinate processes absent.
