A high-quality, early-maturing apple adapted to cool, short-season areas. Origin: in Ahrensburg, Germany. Cox’s Orange Pippin × Docteur Oldenburg. Tree: Fruit: medium, 200-300 gm, round, 25% to 50% red over yellow ground color, pin stripe; maturity similar to Gala’s; flesh yellowish; crisp, juicy, medium firm, moderately acidic; storage life short—2 months at 0 °C. Popular in northern Europe, but not grown commercially in the United States.
