Cultivation

Origin: in Wallingford, Ky., by Frank Browning. Introd. in 1967 by Bountiful Ridge Nurseries, Inc., Princess Anne, Md. Red Rome o.p.; discovered in 1958. Tree: size medium; vigorous; hardy; productive; recommended for commercial plantings. Fruit: medium large; shaped similar to Rome; skin highly colored, very smooth; flesh white, juicy, high dessert quality; storage qualities good, keeps color and does not scald; ripens slightly ahead of Rome.
