Origin: in Morden, Manitoba, Canada, from cross made by C.R. Ure. Selected at Univ. of Alberta; introd. by Prairie Fruit Breeding Coop. Committee. Duchess of Oldenburg × Haralson. Tree: vigor moderate; tendency to biennial bearing. Moderately susceptible to fire blight, but recovers quickly. Hardy to zone 2A. Fruit: medium large, 70 to 80 mm in diam.; oblonground; skin dark red on yellow-green ground color; flesh white, medium-high acidity, good flavor. Harvest mid-September in the southern prairies of Canada; stores well. Fruit quality suitable for juice as well as dessert.
