Origin: in Moscow, Idaho, by Leif Verner, Idaho Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1944. Spitzenburg × Wagener; selected in 1939; tested as Idaho A 2-23. Tree: moderately vigorous, wide spreading, open, with strong crotches. Fruit: medium to large; oblong conic to oblate conic, irregularly ribbed, rather variable; skin rich, clear yellow sometimes with a faint blush and often characterized by dark green in the stem cavity and calyx basin, smooth, waxy, moderately thick; flesh rich cream color, fairly coarse, often very firm, moderately juicy, sweet, aromatic; ripens with or slightly ahead of Rome Beauty; high dessert and keeping qualities.
