Cultivation

Origin: in Yakima, Wash., by Howard S. Mosebar. Introd. in 1924. Bud mutation of Winesap; discovered in 1921 or 1922. Tree: Fruit: skin extremely dark red, in some districts almost black; all fruit on a tree colors about the same time. Fruit and tree otherwise identical to Winesap.
