A perennial hermaphrodite deciduous tree. It grows 4-8m high.
Origin: in Kuroishi, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, by the Aomori Apple Expt. Sta. Introd. in the U.S. in 1948; P.I. 195834 and P.I. 223602; the following information pertains to P.I. 195834. Golden Delicious × Inda; cross made in 1930; fruited for the first time in 1937; named by and published by the Japanese Hort. Assn. in 1948. Patented in Japan 14 Sept. 1949. Tree: larger than either parent; very vigorous; bears annually, a triploid. Susceptible to blister spot. Fruit: larger than either parent, up to 600 g; stem thick; skin smooth, dull, with scarfskin, golden yellow, blushed with orange on exposed cheek; dots numerous; core small, flesh yellowish-white, crisp but rather coarse compared with Golden Delicious, mildly subacid; very good for dessert; season after Golden Delicious; free from russeting; free from shriveling in storage.
