Cultivation

Origin: in New Brunswick, N.J., by L.F. Hough, Rutgers Univ. Introd. in 1987. Golden Delicious × Malling 2439 (Prince Rudolf × James Grieve); cross made in 1974. Tested as NJ89. Rights sold to Star Fruits, France. Tree: very high vigor; precocity very good; very productive; very hardy; bloom mid to late. Fruit: medium to large; shape oblong conic; skin light green, similar to Golden Delicious; flesh texture fine and crisp; flesh color light straw; flavor excellent. Harvest after Golden Delicious; storage life good.
