Cultivation

Origin: in Cottage Grove, Ore., by C.E. Stewart, Lane County fruit inspector. Introd. in 1935. Parentage includes Gravenstein, Delicious, and King; selected in the early 1930s. Tree: grows rapidly, precocious; bears annually thereafter. Fruit: very large; resembles Delicious in shape, color and sweetness but ripens a month earlier; skin waxy; similar to Gravenstein in flavor and cooking qualities.
