Cultivation

Origin: in Summerland, British Columbia, Canada, by Canada Dept. of Agr. Introd. in 1969. McIntosh × Golden Delicious. Cross made in 1926, selected in 1939, tested as S-4-8. Tree: spreading, with strong limbs and crotches; vigorous; hardy; biennial bearing, with very heavy set in alternate years. Fruit: medium to large; uniform, roundish, slightly conic; stem relatively long, straight and stiff, skin bright to dark solid-red blush, attractive; flesh white, very fine, moderately tender, juicy, subacid, flavor good; ripens one week after Golden in Summerland, keeps four months.
