Origin: in Visalia, Calif., by Valentine Moore. Introd. about 1934. USPP 238; 16 Mar. 1937. Chance seedling; discovered about 1924. Tree: vigorous, upright; productive; somewhat resistant to delayed foliation. Fruit: large; conical; skin striped with red, medium thickness, waxy; flesh yellowish-white, texture fine, juicy, flavor subacid, aromatic; excellent for cooking; ripens early, with White Astrachan; resembles Stayman Winesap.
