Cultivation

Origin: in Excelsior, Minn., by Charles Haralson, Minnesota Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1943. Probably McIntosh o.p.; first fruited in 1918; tested as Minn. 396. Tree: spreading, vigorous, productive. Susceptible to fire blight in Manitoba. Fruit: holds well on tree; flesh and skin not as tender as McIntosh, which it resembles; skin medium red; flesh white, fine-grained, juicy, aromatic; for dessert purposes.
